Carrionspawn follow the smell of death.  A horde of them can clean a battlefield in a few hours.  The more diseased meat they eat, the more their flesh putrefies, spreading sickness to everything they touch.

The humans hired or corrupted by the Shadow Deep call them "headless chickens", due to their aspect and their tendance to run around in a frenzy at the scent of rotting meat. This name is, of course, also chosen in mockery of the chicken-folk among the Critters of Alladore.
