These hairy arachnids are divided into many species, but most are comparable to a large dog in size and nearly all have poisonous bites.  In ordinary times they are simply a part of the food chain, for the carnivorous Critters that hunt them, but things are no longer that simple.  Giant Spiders possess only rudimentary intelligence, but the Shadow Deep delights in using them to cause chaos and corruption ahead of more organised attacks.
